Reflection Questions for Holy Thursday

1.
Why would God want the Israelites to commemorate the Passover, particularly with the seder meal?

2.
How can we see in the second reading, from the First Letter to the Corinthians, the role of tradition in the life of the Church?

3.
What is the connection between the Passover feast and the Eucharist?

4.
How do you interpret Christ’s washing of the disciples’ feet?  What about Christ’s refusal to wash anything but the feet (of Peter)?

5.
The Church has traditionally considered the Last Supper to be the moment of both the institution of the Eucharist and the institution of the ministerial priesthood, even though the later is not explicitly mentioned in the Gospel accounts.  What is the connection between the two?

6.
What does the Eucharist mean to you?  What does the priesthood mean to you?

7.
How would we explain to others the role of service in our Christian faith?
